Pair of Vintage Decorated Ostrich Eggs — African Wildlife Theme
This pair of vintage ostrich eggs features an African wildlife theme. One egg is adorned with colourful depictions of iconic African animals, including an elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, and rhinoceros, while the other displays a more muted design with a cheetah and cubs. Both eggs include a map of Africa as part of the design. The eggs seem to be crafted from natural ostrich eggshells, painted or printed with detailed imagery. These pieces likely date from the late 20th century, influenced by a decorative style popular for showcasing exotic wildlife. There are no visible maker's marks. Both eggs are in good condition, with minor wear consistent with age.
